“It was one of the windiest days I’ve fished in a long time. I had been paying attention to the Bass Forecast seasonal changes and I saw that it was likely spawn in my lake. I selected a jig, it was also on the top lures for the day. I was having a tough time staying in the same spot with all of the wind so I decided to paddle my Kayak into the weeds on the shoreline adjacent to an old pontoon boat. The boat was sitting on a steep drop off that went from 1 ft of water on the shore side to 8 ft of water a couple feet off of the other side. After casting all around the boat with a glide bait, I skipped a jig underneath it. I could not feel my line due to the gusts of wind, but I saw it swimming at a fast pace out from under the boat, so I swung hard. The monster peeled drag from my reel until I got it to the boat. I lifted it from the water and immediately weighed it two separate times with a handheld scale to ensure the weight was accurate. Both times it weighed 7.95! I released the fish back into the water after taking some pictures. I even videoed the release so I could show my friends that I took care of this special fish.”
