Customer Catch Story: Erik Kober
“I was not optimistic based on the forecast but knew to work slow (from experience and the app). I was fishing a small pond in a homemade rowboat without electronics and, after working the perimeter, moved into deeper water just off of a point and started fishing the dropshot more vertically. I must've dropped it right on her bed because within a few minutes I had a massive hit. The wind started blowing me towards shore so I cast to the same area and she slammed it as I was slowly working my bait to the boat. This was my first time targeting bass for the year after focusing more on trout during southern Colorado winters and I forgot that my leader was only 4# test. Thankfully I remembered while I was fighting her and adjusted my drag accordingly. Unfortunately, I had dropped my scale in the river the week prior so I had to settle with Length/Further measurements and estimate her anywhere between. She was a beautiful and healthy pre-spawn fish, full of eggs and much larger than the 2-3 pound "good ones" we get excited about out here in Colorado. After handling her with the utmost care, I watched in awe as she powerfully swam back to the depths while my adrenaline kept pumping and my heart raced.”
