“The late afternoon sun warmed my back as I cast my line into Lake Serenity. My favorite lure, a baby dozer football jig, green pumpkin with blue flecks, felt lucky today. I let it sink near a submerged log, then slowly retrieved it, bumping along the bottom. Suddenly, my line went taut. Not a small nibble, but a powerful pull that bent my rod double. "Whoa!" I exclaimed, my heart pounding. This was a big one. The fish surged and pulled, stripping line. I held on, reeling when I could, my arms straining. Finally, a huge, dark shape surfaced. A massive bass. We scaled it at 8 pounds, 25 inches. My baby dozer football jig looked tiny in its lip. We released the giant back into the lake. I'll never forget the day I caught the lunker of Lake livingston with my lucky lure.”
