“I picked up a used Ascend 128T off of OfferUp a couple weeks before. I hadn't taken it out yet because the seat needed to be replaced. I finally received the seat from Bass Pro so I thought I might take the yak out. I was going back and forth because it was brutally hot and the 128T is a heavy, heavy yak. I really didn't know if I wanted to put in the effort to load it up, drive it, and paddle around not knowing if I was even going to catch anything because of the weather. Well, I decided to anyway because I had spent the money. I am a bank angler and this was my first time out on a yak. I didn't know what to expect. I paddle about 40 feet down the bank from where I launched to the other side of the reed line. I cast out a Z-Man Turbo Fattyz parallel to the reeds and felt a "thump, thump" and tried to set the hook as hard as I could sitting in a yak for the first time. The fish took off for deep water -- it was so cool to see the line move like that. Started reeling and when I saw the fish break the water I couldn't believe it. Finally, I got her to the boat and after my heart settled down and my hands weren't shaking I got a pretty descent picture! Biggest fish I've ever caught!”
