“I knew the minor period was going to be early in the morning, which is my normal time to start rising; before the sun comes up. Third cast of the morning slowly reeling in 3 ft water. Line started feeling heavy, not a hard hit, set the hook and the fight was on. She took off toward deeper water, got her turned and worked around the bow of the boat. I didn’t have my net out, so when I finally got her alongside I got on my knees and lipped her. I knew she was bigger than my previous personal best (7.85 lbs), but I was shocked when I weighed her on my Bubba scale.”
