Customer Catch Story: Kory Olshefski

“The 13th was my birthday, I had taken off for the day to finally put my boat in the water after not fishing since July. It was absolutely cold outside, and I had no want or will to traverse the windy lake, but I had checked in to bas forecast saw the rating was decent, and figured it was my birthday, might as well suck it up for a few hours and blow some steam off. I was with my father in law who is not an avid fisherman. We puttered around until I finally decided to just head for the only hole that didn’t have any wind. There is a bridge there, and I have never gone under it in fear of bottoming the boat out, but on this specific day for some reason I just went for it. We got about 10 yards passed the bridge, and we fished there for maybe 20 minutes before I flipped the trolling motor around and started to head out. My father in law got snagged on a Lilly pad with one of my favorite square bill cranks, so naturally I wasn’t leaving it to the lake. I turned around puttered over grabbed his pole, and got the crank unstuck. “Last cast.” For some reason my gut said take one more. I laid the spinner up in 6 inches of water and my father in law said something so I turned around double checked he was okay, and when I spun back around the first crank I had something. The rest was history. I spent 20 minutes with the boat beating up against the shore trying to figure out how I was gonna stand, I’ve never had weak knees, but that fish…. Man she brought me straight down!”
