“I invited my dad, who is 83 years old, and is the reason why I love fishing so much to come up from North Carolina to go fishing at the lake near my vacation home in western Massachusetts in September 2021. I told him that he needed to be flexible because I was relying on this App to give us the best chance to have successful fishing trip. He of course scoffed at that, and I told him to trust me. The app showed a good group of days in mid September. My dad flew to NY and we drove up to Mass. We began fishing on Sept. 16th, we had a great day fishing from a floating dock. I believe we caught 8 bass 1 pickerel and 1 yellow perch in only two hours without moving. On one of the last casts of the day, I cast my jackhammer about 40 yards out about 3 feet from shore. I started to reel in and it felt like I snagged my hook on a log. I remember saying to my dad, darn it, I don't want to lose this lure, next thing I know I see my line swimming away from the bank. I yelled Oh my gosh that is a fish. I quickly set the hook and started reeling in. I remember yelling Holy S three times as my rod tip was bent in half and i could tell it was a huge fish. I asked my dad to grab the net. At this point, he picked up the net walked onto the dock and got his first glance of the fish and said holy moly, he swiped at the fish with the net and missed it which of course i thought i was going to lose the fish. I fought the fish back toward the dock and my dad netted the fish. When he lifted it up he again said oh my gosh and looked at me and said you peckerwood (which he would call me, and my brother when he would tease us). We took some pictures, weighed the fish and got it back in the water. The only thing that would have been better for me that day would have been if my dad caught the fish. We fished the next two days from a little boat i have with an electric motor, the next day we caught 7 fish including a 4 lber my dad caught and the following day, we fished for a couple of hours and caught 4 fish between 2 and 4 lbs. It was the best 3 days of fishing I think I have ever had with my dad and I will never forget it. I attribute our success entirely to the app, identifying the good days to fish and the right lures to use. I realize that this is not the current year, but Mike Mehlmann told me to submit it. I spoke with him last night and he asked if I knew about the lunker club, which I did not and he told me to submit it.”
