“I dreamt of this guy all night the night before. I was on a boat trip bought as a team building exercise for our managers. When we had all started fishing in the 30 degree temperature I was especially concerned that everyone else was catching white bass, and I wasn’t getting any bites. I’ll admit, the ego was starting to feel a bit bruised, then, it all changed in an instant. With a flash my rib bent so far into the water I thought it snapped off. I started reeling and pulling with all my might. I pulled him up towards the front of the boat and back down the side. Now the tip of the rod dropped so far down it went into the water and this behemoth said “naw, son” and took off. It was as if I set no tension on the reel at all, because he started taking line and running for the hills. That zipping sound still haunts me to this day. I never gave up though. I let him know that no matter how hard he fought, he wasn’t leaving without a kiss from me!! That’s exactly what I did. I pulled him in, lifted him up and gave a kiss on his head right after weighing all of his beautiful seven pounds. Then I told him a joke and let him go back to his youngsters. He’s out there right now, in Stillhouse lake. Telling all his friends about the weird guy who gave him a kiss.”
